Country-level relationship of OTC medicine consumption and frequency of GP consultation

The discussion surrounding self-medication with non-prescription medicines has gained significance in healthcare and public health, particularly given the global increase in consumption of non-prescription drugs. Glyphosate Levels in American Food Products Meet Government Safety Levels Yet Exceed Concentrations Associated with Negative Effects

Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup, frequently used in the agricultural industry worldwide. Current literature reveals contradictory findings regarding the effects of glyphosate on vertebrates, leading to concerns about human consumption and differing views on safety levels. Here, authors sought to measure glyphosate levels in common commercially available food products. While some product levels exceed the thresholds at which negative effects have been observed, none exceed government limits.

Here the authors investigated how climate change-induced ocean acidification may impact harmful micro algae such as diatoms that produce large amounts of oxygen in the atmosphere and serve as important food sources for other marine organisms. They evaluated diatom growth rates at current seawater pH levels (8.1) alongside reduced pH levels (7.5 and 6.8). The findings indicate that while diatoms maintain steady growth under moderate acidification (pH 7.5), severe acidification down to pH 6.8 significantly limits their ability to adapt and thrive.

Implication of education levels on gender wage gap across states in the United States and Puerto Rico

Here the authors examined the relationship between education levels and the gender wage gap (GWG) in the US and Puerto Rico from 2010 to 2022, hypothesizing that higher education would correlate with a lower GWG. Their analysis of income data revealed an inverse correlation, where higher education levels were associated with reduced gender wage disparities, suggesting that policies aimed at closing the gender gap in higher education could promote socioeconomic equality.
