Reddit v. Wall Street: Why Redditors beat Wall Street at its own game

Here the authors investigated the motivation of a short squeeze of GameStop stock where users of the internet forum Reddit drove a sudden increase in GameStop stock price during the start of 2021. Motion tracking and analysis of spray water droplets studied by high-speed photography using an iPhone X

Smartphones are not only becoming an inseparable part of our daily lives, but also a low-cost, powerful optical imaging tool for more and more scientific research applications. In this work, smartphones were used as a low-cost, high-speed, photographic alternative to expensive equipment, such as those typically found in scientific research labs, to accurately perform motion tracking and analysis of fast-moving objects. By analyzing consecutive images, the speed and flight trajectory of water droplets in the air were obtained, thereby enabling us to estimate the area of the water droplets landing on the ground.

A cross-cultural analysis of consumer behavior and payment preferences: Insights from India and the United Arab Emirates

Consumers in India and the United Arab Emirates live in very different economic and cultural environments, and this study set out to measure how that shapes the way they shop and pay. Surveying 50 people in each country, they found that Indian consumers were more price-sensitive and favored cash, while UAE consumers prioritized convenience, gravitating toward credit cards, mobile wallets, and online shopping. The results offer practical insight for retailers, marketers, and policymakers working across these two fast-growing but culturally distinct markets.
