Here, recognizing the need to improve the efficiency of the conversion of solar energy to electrical energy, the authors used MATLAB to mathematically simulate a multi-layered thin film with an without an antireflective coating. They found that the use of alternating ZnO-SiO2 multilayers enhanced the transmission of light into the solar cell, increasing its efficiency and reducing the reflectivity of the Si-Air interface.

This manuscript focuses on improving the mechanical strength and radiopacity of SLA 3D-printed stent materials by incorporating nanoparticles for their application in flow-diverting stents (FDSs) used to treat aneurysms. The authors used biocompatible, bioresorbable resin formulations with varying concentrations of silica and zirconium to enhance tensile strength and radiopacity, respectively. The authors employed SEM to confirm the incorporation of nanoparticles, and CT imaging was used to assess the effect of zirconium-infused FDSs.

Multi-omic analysis identifies mitochondrial dysfunction as a key feature of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

This study used multi-omic analysis to investigate gene expression and DNA methylation patterns associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The researchers found significant downregulation of mitochondrial and energy-related pathways, highlighting mitochondrial dysfunction—particularly altered PINK1 expression—as a potential contributor and therapeutic target in HCM.
